Heather Lake

Heather Lake Trail is located near Granite Falls, Washington and is accessible via the Mountain Loop Highway.

The trail is 4.6 miles roundtrip, elevation gain is 1100 feet and highest point is 2500 feet. Along the trail are streams and waterfalls. Very refreshing hike, especially on hot summer days.

Begin hiking in young forest and climb gently up to a shelf where a glacier-carved lake lies beneath the cliffs of Mt. Pilchuck. The lake is in a subalpine forest meadow setting and is quite popular all months of the year. It can be quite crowded on summer weekends. The rocky shore on the south side of the lake offers the best opportunity for fishing, wildflowers and berry picking. A 0.7-mile trail has been built around the lake. Please stay on trails and use only established picnic or camp sites. Opportunities for camping are limited in this small and fragile lake basin.

Directions:
From the Verlot Public Service Center (11 miles east of Granite Falls, WA), travel east on the Mt Loop Highway one mile. Turn right (south) on the Pilchuck Road (Forest Service road 42) and continue 1.5 miles to the trailhead on your left.
